Georgia Boniface

About

Hello : )

I realised as I was sewing the other day that the way I make clothes is quite unusual these days. Each garment has been informed by my years of working as an artist and designer but I am not sure I’ve particularly told my story so I thought it might be a good time to introduce myself. I’m Georgia Boniface, artist/dressmaker. I work from my studio in an old textile mill by the canal in Slaithwaite, West Yorkshire.

I learned to sew when I was very young and although my background is in Fine Art I have been designing and making clothes professionally for almost thirty years. My approach to making clothes is the same as it is to painting, sculpting, working in collage or creating an installation; I conceive, design, cut and sew everything myself. Immersed in every aspect of the process, I’m completely hands on and I love it.

All the garments in my collection are then by nature limited-edition, created from scratch from ethically sourced fabrics. Every design can be made to measure at no extra cost, keeping waste to a minimum and ensuring the best fit. It's a simple and sustainable way of working.

You’re welcome to call in to the studio or email if you’d like to know more about sizing, talk about a made to measure garment or just get a little more information, I’m always happy to chat about ideas.
